Uninnocent

I was young once
Innocent and pure
A curious and creative mind
A part of my nature

I saw the sun as big as an orange
And the clouds all neatly arranged
The moon was like a dazzling flashlight
The stars were my own infinite fireflies

The backyard was my forest
My pillows were my fortress
My bedroom was my kingdom
And I was the most beautiful princess

Of course I was never alone
I had a lot of friends all for my own
We conquered the world together
And had tea parties every summer

I was a teacher, a doctor, a painter
I became anybody I wanted to be
Nobody was telling me what to do
I was living my life the way I want it to

But then time got very needy
And took everything away from me
I was left on my own, out in the cold
Reality hit me and everything got destroyed
